Skagit 911 Dispatchers/Call-Takers answers, processes and dispatches first responders to 9-1-1 calls within Skagit County's borders.  Skagit 911 Dispatchers/Call-Takers work 12 hour shifts in a three (days) on, four off, four on, three off schedule.  The ideal candidate will possess high-performing computer/keyboard skills, a commitment to teamwork, desire to serve others, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to excel in a challenging, fast-paced environment. Baristas, bank tellers, restaurant and fast-food industry workers, and/or those with military experience typically pick up the required job skills and training the quickest, but several different kinds of people work at Skagit 911!

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

 

Hourly Rate: $25.92 (Trainee rate); $26.70 (Step 1 Dispatcher rate)

  • Personal time off starting at 176 hours per year plus 8 hours of sick leave per month
  • Holiday premium pay (1.5 x rate), holiday premium overtime pay (2 x rate)
  • Step Increases each year up to 5 years, then every 2 years up to 15 years
  • This position is unionized under SEIU 925

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Have no pending charges for any criminal offenses
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Be able to type at least fifty (50) words per minute
  • Be able to pass a background investigation, polygraph screening, fingerprint screening, credit check, hearing test, and testing for controlled substances
  • Be able to perform the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
