About the RoleJoin Optum NY as a Medical Assistant supporting patients and providers in a collaborative clinical setting. You'll provide direct and telephone-based patient care, assist with clinical procedures, and coordinate with the care team to help ensure seamless care delivery.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within established clinical standards, policies, protocols, and scope of practice.
- Room and escort patients while proactively identifying and communicating individual and family care needs.
- Assist physicians, advanced practice professionals, and nurses with exams, procedures, diagnostic services, and treatments.
- Perform authorized clinical procedures, including vital signs, vision screenings, and selected laboratory tests.
- Prepare e-prescriptions for pharmacy processing when directed by a physician and in accordance with policy.
- Clean and process instruments and equipment, and prepare properly labeled specimens for laboratory transport with appropriate orders entered in EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting OR a Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following:
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $16.00-$29.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
