JRAD is seeking a Biodefense Scientist to provide technical, scientific, and programmatic expertise in support of advanced development programs focused on medical countermeasures (MCMs) for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. The successful candidate will support government program offices and project teams through scientific analysis, contractor oversight, technical documentation development, strategic planning, and program execution activities. This role requires extensive experience in biotechnology and biodefense product development, including expertise in bioanalytical and immunological assay development and validation.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, scientific, and programmatic support to government program offices and project teams for advanced development efforts related to medical countermeasures.
  • Assist with government oversight of development contractor activities, including site visits, performance monitoring, quality assurance, and technical oversight during study execution.
  • Conduct data analyses and prepare study results for market research, publications, and program decision making.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in bioanalytical, anti drug antibody, neutralizing antibody, and enzymatic assay development and implementation.
  • Develop and review technical documentation supporting product development and acquisition activities.
  • Support program office participation in conferences, stakeholder engagements, and technical meetings.
  • Participate in internal and external IPTs, including meeting organization, agenda preparation, minutes, and action item tracking.
  • Draft reports, executive summaries, significant actions, manuscripts, and technical documents such as transition agreements, RFPs, and statements of work.
  • Research and review scientific literature and databases to identify relevant technical information and references.
  • Review scientific data, reports, and technical submissions for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Communicate results clearly in oral and written formats, including executive summaries, presentations, and technical reports.
  • Deliver written work products ahead of suspense deadlines to allow for government review, revision, and coordination.
  • Prepare and review reports and briefs generated by other agencies.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Ph.D in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, as well as fifteen (15) years of general experience and ten (10) years of relevant experience. Or: MS with twenty (20) years of general / fifteen (15) years of relevant experience
  • Ten years of industry experience in biotechnology, biochemistry, or related scientific fields
  • Five years of leadership experience in the scientific community (Principal Investigator, Director, Technical Team Lead)
  • Expertise in program management, product development, acquisition program strategic planning, contract guidance, and project oversight
  • Strong understanding of relevant scientific literature and ability to debate highly technical issues
  • Five years of experience with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
