Job Summary
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Alexander Adibekian in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. We are seeking a specialist in target identification of complex natural products to join a collaborative research group working at the interface of chemistry and biology. The successful candidate will apply chemoproteomic and chemical biology approaches to identify and characterize the protein targets of bioactive natural products, with the goal of elucidating their mechanisms of action and nforming the development of new therapeutic leads.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.

Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral. Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in target identification, ideally using activity-based protein profiling, affinity-based pulldowns, or related chemoproteomic methods
  • Strong background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics is highly desirable
  • Experience with complex natural products and/or bioactive small molecules
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A proven record of scientific accomplishment

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute computational studies related to modeling polymer properties.
  • Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to design computational experiments and validate models.
  • Prepare reports and present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
