| Position Title:Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor Compensation:$40,000 - $45,000 Department:English Start Date:01/05/2026 About this opportunity:Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of English beginning January 2026 to teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning, first-year writing program. This position will be a one-year contract with possibility of renewal. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you will bring: Duties and Responsibilities: Teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning, first-year writing program. Instructors may also be assigned to teach courses in English Education, literature, creative writing, applied linguistics, or professional writing depending on faculty expertise and departmental needs. Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: ABDor terminal degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; three or more years' experience teaching first-year writing at the college level; experience with teaching or scholarship in one or more of these areas: Literature, Creative Writing, English Education, Ethnic Studies, Diverse or Global Rhetorics, and/or Early American literature.
