Position Title: PT Hotel HousekeeperCompensation: $17.79 - $17.79Department: Student Ctr Guest Housing_AStart Date: 07/28/2025About this opportunity: Ball State University Hotel has an opportunity for a part-time housekeeper. Hours will vary depending on hotel occupancy. This position requires mornings and some weekend shifts.The ideal candidate will be flexible, and will possess great customer service skills with a willingness to learn. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: Under supervision, perform housekeeping work required for the cleaning and maintenance of the Pittenger Student Center Hotel following proper procedures and techniques for equipment and cleaning products. Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Change bed linens, make beds with clean linens, and flip mattresses as required. 2. Clean and service all areas in restrooms in the hotel rooms to include, but not limited to, lavatory, toilet, showers, bath tub and floor areas, etc. Requires the physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, balance, stand, climb, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Task requires the visual ability to read written materials, inspect areas, judge distances, shape, shadow, distinguish colors, etc. Task requires the use of hand duster, bucket and wringer, mops, brushes, sponge, eye protection, gloves, and various chemical products, etc. Task exposes employee to inside environmental conditions, noise, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, etc. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions, information. 3. Maintain carpet floor coverings, i.e., vacuum, remove spots and stains, extraction cleaning of carpet and upholstered furniture in all hotel rooms. Requires the physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, balance, stand, climb, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Task requires the visual ability to read written materials, inspect areas, judge distances, shape, shadow, distinguish colors, etc. Task requires the use of wet/dry vacuum, portable vacuum, hand duster, brushes, sponge, eye protection, gloves, and various chemical products, etc. Task exposes employee to inside environmental conditions, noise, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, etc. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and information. 4. Dust, vacuum, clean and/or polish furniture and surfaces; clean facilities, fixtures, hardware and windows; change lighting in table/desk lamps and clean fixtures as needed in all Hotel rooms. 5. Collect and dispose of trash, refuse, recycling materials and debris from all hotel rooms into designated receptacles. Requires the physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, balance, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Task requires the visual ability to read written materials, inspect areas, judge distances, etc. Task requires the use of trash carts, bags and cans, dollies, gloves, etc. Task exposes employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, etc. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and information. 6. Collect soiled towels and linens for laundry; load and use industrial washer and dryer to launder towels and linens; store clean laundry in proper location. Requires the physical ability to stoop, crouch, lift, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, grasp, and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Task requires the visual ability to inspect areas, judge distances, size, shape, shadows, etc. Task requires the use of linens, laundry facilities, carts, etc. Task exposes employee to inside environmental conditions, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, etc. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and information. 7. Acquire and maintain knowledge of job-related chemicals, and environmental, health and physical concerns. Requires the physical ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Task requires the mental ability to read, comprehend and follow: written instructions, procedures, precautions, etc., used in connection with custodial related work, trade publications, department handbook, etc. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and information. 8. Lock and unlock doors as required to perform job related duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Requires the physical ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, and exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Task requires the visual ability to read written materials, inspect areas, judge distance, shape, shadows, etc. Task requires the use of keys. Task exposes employee to inside and outside environmental conditions. Task requires the mental ability to receive and follow oral instructions and to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and information. 9. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 1.No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, chemicals or environmental factors in housekeeping service.
