Job Summary |
The Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for direct management of the staff providing services from the Arlington Regional Data Center. The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the data center team in maintaining high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs at a minimum. This data center supports mission-critical systems for all UT System institutions and must maintain better than 99.999% annual uptime.
This position is responsible for overseeing the operation of the mission-critical data center facility including:
- Security systems
- access control
- security video management
- Stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems,
- 3 phase electrical systems (> 1 MVA) including:
- switchgear
- uninterruptible power supplies
- power distribution units
- Mechanical systems including:
- computer room air handlers
- chillers
- pumps
- Building automation systems
- Data center infrastructure management systems
Many of above systems require regular-interval service and operational interaction via third-party service providers. In coordination with the Data Center Facilities Manager, this role provides front-line oversight of such vendor activities, coordinates and facilitates service interactions with the Data Center Team.
This role and the staff members it oversees are essential personnel, and as such requires diligent staff planning for uninterrupted staffing. Coverage is especially important during significant weather events and other availability-impacting issues. |
