Job Summary Under the supervision of a crew leader, performs a variety of gardening and/or landscape maintenance techniques in a research environment in order to maintain highquality aesthetic standards throughout thecampus community. Performs work in accordance with Institute and regulatory agencies safety standards and practices. Essential Job Duties Apply knowledge of grounds and/or landscape maintenance while using basic hand tools and equipment such as hoes, shovels, pruners, hedge shears, and periodically leaf blowers. Perform basic pruning and trimming, cultivate flower beds, pull weeds, and water areas as necessary. Transplant small plant material and maintain new plantings of shrubs and color beds during established periods. Identify, flag and report sprinkler problems. Clean maintenance equipment and report equipment problems. Monitor campus areas, sweep hardscape surfaces, and empty trash and cigarette containers. Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Knowledge and Experience: One year of experience in a gardening, landscape, or nursery landscape environment. Knowledge of botanical or common names of plants. Knowledge of tools and equipment and methods and materials used in landscape maintenance. Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the date of hire, a valid California Driver's License, and maintain it throughout the course of employment. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to walk, bend, and twist on a constant basis. Ability to work in an outside environment exposed to elements. Required Documents Resume Hiring Range $18.50 - $22.75 Per Hour The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
