Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Missouri School of Medicine/University of Missouri Healthcare is seeking an academically oriented, AP board-certified, surgical pathologist with subspecialty training in GI pathology, including medical liver and pancreaticobiliary pathology. Desired qualifications include GI fellowship training, however candidates who have done a general surgical pathology fellowship with GI focus, or practicing pathologists with substantial experience in GI pathology will be considered. This is a full-time appointment at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank on the non-tenure clinical track.

We seek an AP board-certified pathologist to assist in GI sign out, as well as participate in some general surgical pathology sign out. The surgical pathology practice accessions approximately 23,000 surgical pathology cases annually with a large case variety; subspecialty sign out is in place for GI/liver biopsies, neuropathology, hematopathology, cytopathology and gynecological pathology. There are opportunities for clinical and translational research, both within the department and within the larger UH system, including Ellis Fishel Cancer center, and the Columbia campus.

Job Details.

  • In addition to participating in diagnostic sign-out of specialty areas, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the general surgical pathology Frozen Section services as well as tumor boards
  • Call is very manageable, divided among all anatomical pathologists, Monday evening to the following Monday morning
  • Candidates are expected to contribute to medical student and resident, education, and develop research projects reflective of their interest
