Purpose

The Senior Research Engagement Coordinator supports the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) portfolio in nucleating and growing networks of researchers from across the University with shared interest in convergent research areas.

Responsibilities
  • As a member of the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) Research Development team, reporting to the Executive Director for Research Collaborations and Impact, coordinates programmatic activity in support of executive-level faculty development and strategic research partnerships, with priorities set by the Deputy Vice President for Research. Works with Research Development team members to identify program coordination needs, responds to ad hoc requests for research engagement, and identifies and communicates with potential collaborators. Develops repeatable processes to compile and format supporting information in ways that facilitate decision-making for RD Assistant Directors and leadership.

  • Works with the Assistant Director, Investigator Skills Building to coordinate planning of workshops and sessions designed to increase researchers' competitiveness in securing external funding. Compiles supporting information from UT and funding sponsor data systems to help to identify internal and external speakers; coordinates scheduling and gatheringcontributions for skill-building sessions. Distributes post-event surveys and relevant follow-up materials to session participants.

  • Works with the Assistant Director, Strategic Partnerships to compile supporting information about ongoing joint research projects involving UT and key external partners. Supports the Assistant Director in maintaining regular communication and touchpoints with these teams by creating systems to easily track progress across multiple partnerships and individual projects, while maintaining appropriate attention to detail. Connects project teams to services and resources to help them seek sustaining external funding. Manages website content to increase visibility of strategic research partnerships.

  • Staff visits by external collaborators and partners to document decisions and collect action items as requested. Serves as backup to host info sessions that introduce Research Development concepts and services to researchers. Contributes to the overall success of the OVPR Research Development portfolio by performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years' post-degree experience in project or team coordination and management.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.

  • Experience communicating with research faculty at a high level.

Salary Range

$72,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • May work around standard office conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

  • Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines
