Description

This position directs all quality control activities for the Quality Department. Primary responsibilities for quality shop floor management including sequencing and schedule attainment, staffing, capacity management and constraint management and mitigation. The position will lead and direct quality control personnel (approximately 20-25 direct reports) and will be responsible for staffing, performance management and staff development. Ensure quality product is produced and in compliance with specifications and procedures. Design and administer quality systems to support quality advancement and adherence to PCX customer requirements and specifications. Manage customer and supplier quality related issues. Primary accountability areas: Quality and business plan execution, positively effects KPI's in safety, efficiencies, productivity, inventory costs, on time delivery, quality, customer complaints and Lean.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Build and lead the Quality Control (QC) Team.
  • Develop training plans for all associates.
  • Interview and manage the down select process for new hires in QC.
  • Continue to improve the organization structure.
  • Integrate all inspectors and QC associates into daily cadence.
  • Take lead role for QC in the OPR room during daily start-ups.
  • Take lead role for QC for new products. Coordinate across functions to manage completion of IMS and provide schedules and performance to plan updates on new products.
  • Develop a culture that supports Safety and Quality as the highest priority.
  • Manage the safety of all associates along with a safe work environment by promptly addressing safety hazards, environmental concerns, and actively involving associates in the continuous improvement of safety
  • Develop high-performing teams by leading the goal setting, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and career development processes with associates. Identify training needs and assist in the development and delivery of associate training.
  • Train & develop quality personnel on inspection and gauging requirements (methods, equipment, frequencies, standards, etc.) as well as other skills and competencies as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with and communication of company policies and procedures.
  • Develop / modify the Quality System and tools to improve assurance all product and processes conform fully to PCX requirements.
  • Manage customer complaints: Ensure complete and timely responses as required, as well as monitor solutions for effectiveness. Support the process using standard quality tools like the 3D and 8D processes. Engage other appropriate PCX resources as required (front end, engineering, customer service, and supply chain).
  • Proactively identify situations where problems may arise. Lead and facilitate problem solving with a cross functional team to address quality concerns and implement recurrence prevention countermeasures.
  • Manage Supplier quality issues: Document complaints using the Quality system, work together with PMM, SQD, and other PCX resources.
  • Implement the Lean strategy to meet business goals, including Lean principles, techniques and methodologies, practices, and tools such as visual management, zone control, pulse point gemba walks, and standard work to drive performance improvements. Ensure associates are engaged and are participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support innovative, strategic new business development and contribute to or lead projects. This includes new product/program implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the Talent Management process (focus plans, development plans, talent profiles, PIP's etc.) for all direct reports.
  • Oversee and participate in the hiring selection process, training process and supervising all operative and staff associates.
  • Evaluate competitors' products and technology.



Position Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Associate degree or equivalent required; bachelor's preferred
  • Minimum of 9 years' experience in Quality, Gears, and Manufacturing
  • Successful management of operative associates in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Quality leadership including talent and performance management experience
  • Solid mechanical/technical aptitude in manufacturing inspection in an Aerospace environment (AS9100D)
  • Functional Quality Supervisory / Management Experience (3-5 years)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong ability to lead and manager projects from inception to completion and deliver expected results
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical concepts to variety of audiences
  • Solid working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices with a proven ability to effectively implement change
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power point)Strong problem-solving skills
  • Green belt or black belt certification a plus
