Job Title: Maintenance Worker

FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Operations Manager

Schedule: FT, TBD
Supervises: N/A

Closing Date: 6/28/2024

Rate of Pay: $22.05/hour

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment)
  • One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)
  • Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan)



Scope of position:

The Maintenance worker is responsible for the cleaning the facility on a daily basis and occasional maintenance needs. Any special or unusual concern is to be brought to the immediate attention of the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Education (high school diploma/GED) and work experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities required. The individual must have/obtain current certification in first aid and CPR skills, or obtain them within six months of hire. The individual should have crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills. The individual must show respect for other employees, associates and clients, and the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army.

Software-related skills: Microsoft Word and Excel required, Lotus Notes, Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

Consumer Reports:



  1. Criminal History Report - Biannually



Skills:



  1. Should have crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills.
  2. Prior experience in a janitorial role, working in a larger facility.
  3. Experience in non-profit setting working with homeless, other economically disadvantaged, and culturally diverse populations preferred.



Scope of Position/Essential Functions:



  1. Be responsible for daily cleaning of facility
  2. Work with management on ways to improve safety of facility
  3. Know and enforce facility rules
  4. Maintain ongoing professional relationship with all interpersonal contacts
  5. Attend all staff meetings assigned
  6. Report and safety concerns to supervisor
  7. Performs other duties as assigned
