Safety, Environmental and Security Manager

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Bachelor's degree in safety or related field with three (3) years of experience in safety.
  2. Associate's degree in safety or related field with five (5) years of experience in safety.
  3. Must have working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations.
  4. Working experience with Department of Defense (DoD), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) regulations preferred.
  5. Working experience in physical security preferred.
  6. Work experience with environmental regulations relating to hazardous waste preferred.
  7. Working experience in the field of explosives/pyrotechnics preferred.
  8. Possession of Safety Certifications or similar credentials preferred.
  9. Work experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
  10. Must possess time management skills and can multi-task and problem solve.
  11. Must be able to work and communicate well at all levels, internal and external to the organization.
  12. Must be courteous, tactful, and objective while working to ensure that safety, quality, environmental, production, and service objectives are maintained throughout the organization.
  13. Must have the ability to make judgments based on factual data and manage multiple activities.
  14. Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 preferred.
  15. Be able to read, speak, and understand English language.



JOB DUTIES:


  1. Provide guidance and direction for the Safety, Environmental, and Security programs and activities.
  2. Ensure all safety, environmental and security manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current to Federal/State laws/regulations and meet the needs of the company.
  3. Responsible for performance of Hazard assessments on equipment, processes, and procedures.
  4. Responsible for safety and environmental audits.
  5. Responsible for Hazardous Waste collections and disposal per NYS DEC regulations.
  6. Responsible for employee and contractor safety orientation.
  7. Responsible for industrial hygiene program.
  8. Responsible for the physical security and Operations Security program.
  9. Assists the Facility manager with all licenses including NYS DOL, BATFE, and local Licenses.
  10. Act as backup Quality Technician when needed.
  11. Chair the Plant Process Control Board.
  12. Lead the investigation of near-miss incidents, accidents, and injuries.
  13. Prepare materials and evidence for organizational use in insurance investigations.
  14. Assist with workers compensation claims. Secure necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, or other documents) for the investigation of claims.
  15. Assist in Job Description Analyses for all positions to include Production, Material Handling, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and Training for use determining return-to-work and light duty accommodations.
  16. Act as liaison with workers compensation carrier for incident investigations.
  17. Assist PBG Director of EHS&S in determining appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed.
  18. Assist in planning, development and tracking of safety training sessions, inspections and audits following up to ensure completion of action items.
  19. Ensure Safety meetings and Safety Committee meetings are conducted according to schedule.
  20. Must be committed to ISO and the company's Quality Management System using process approach and risk-based thinking methodologies in relation to Safety and Training Department.
  21. Shares accountability for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System in relation to Safety, Environmental and Security Department.
  22. Participate in Yearly Management Review of all ISO documentation as scheduled.
  23. Participate in solicitation evaluations and Contract Reviews, when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Must be able to move throughout the facility 8-12 hours per day.
