Summary

As a Licensed Professional Engineer at PlayCore-Southern Fulfillment Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and compliance of our playground equipment. You will collaborate with our design and engineering teams to develop new products, improve existing designs, and uphold industry standards and regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting thorough analyses, performing risk assessments, and providing technical guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and engineer innovative playground equipment that meets safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Conduct structural analyses, including finite element analysis (FEA), to assess the strength, stability, and durability of playground structures and components.
  • Perform risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety concerns and mitigate risks associated with product design and usage.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., ASTM, CPSC, ADA) throughout the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for new and existing playground products.
  • Participate in product testing, prototyping, and validation activities to verify performance and safety characteristics.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to internal teams, external partners, and customers regarding engineering-related inquiries, challenges, and solutions.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in playground equipment design, safety, and engineering.
  • Provide structural calculations for play equipment foundation analysis as required by local building code. Must be licensed in the following states: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design, analysis, and product development, preferably in the playground equipment industry or a related field.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., CAD software, FEA software) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, materials science, and mechanical design principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex engineering problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Travel

Less than 10%.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
