GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have bachelor's degree in human resource (HR) Management, Business Management, related field
- Must have working knowledge of Labor and Employment law.
- Outstanding interpersonal, negotiating, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Must have working knowledge in maintaining compliance with Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
- Proficient with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll software, knowledge of Paychex Flex preferred.
- Must be able to receive clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).
- Must possess a valid driver's license and vehicle.
JOB DUTIES:
- Manage and oversee activities relating to staffing, employee education and training, management development, labor relations, affirmative action, and benefits and salary administration.
- Provide consultative support in the areas of human resources for consistent and appropriate application of company policies and procedures.
- Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities by scheduling management conferences, resolving employee grievances, training managers in how to coach and discipline, and counseling employees and supervisors.
- Champion the onboarding process by ensuring that it's high-quality and up to date and provide clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall business vision.
- Build strong relationships with external suppliers, fostering trust and promoting collaboration.
- Handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Managing and improving as needed the performance management process for all employees.
- Ensure all records are maintained, entering all information into HRIS, and ensuring all files are kept up to date.
- Coordinate employee benefits meetings and annual Open Enrollment scheduling meetings for all employees.
- Searching for gaps in training content and materials that need updating to generate higher productivity and safety among staff.
- Researching new training courses and materials that can enhance our training procedures while providing value to employees.
- Identifying future training needs and creating a curriculum to facilitate that training.
- Leading programs to assist employees with transitions due to technological changes, and/or promotions.
- Communicating with management, trainers, and team members to ensure that all needs are met.
- Setting up executive or leadership development programs for lower-level employees
- Conducting orientation programs and arranging on-the-job training for new hires
- Resolving any specific problems and tailoring training programs as necessary
- Ensure all terminations of employment are processed correctly and notify all appropriate outside parties (i.e, Profit Sharing, ATF, Security, etc.).
- Ensure all legal postings are up to date for VA and NY facilities.
- Ensure yearly required EEO-1 and VETS-4212 reports are filed with appropriate branch of Government.
- Ensure employee requests for Family and Medical Leave and Short-Term Disability and all associated documentation are processed in a timely manner.
- File all Workers Compensation claims for plant and maintain all OSHA records regarding injuries.
- Perform all other duties as required by management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or move throughout the work area for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
