Laboratory Aide

The Johns Hopkins University Department of Genetics is seeking a summer/casualLaboratory Aide to assist in data analysis, sequencing coding, cryogenic banking and shipping activities in a busy service center and will work under the direct supervision of a GRCF staff member.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support in Unix and Python coding to for GRCF high throughput sequencing services.
  • Provide assistance with analyzing sequencing data on a cluster.
  • Provide assistance with bash scripting.
  • As needed, provides assistance with Long Read Sequencing bench top work.
  • With the JH BioBank, participates in small- and large-scale projects of vial placement, inventory, and retrieval into ultra-low temperature and liquid nitrogen freezers.
  • Participates in small- and large-scale vial relabeling and discard projects.
  • Participates in biorepository database tracking and modification in BSI.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
