Research Intern

A Part-Time Intern is being recruited to learn from the faculty and clinical research team in the Cord Blood Transplant (CBT) Program. The intern will be under the supervision of the PI and Project Manager, and will gain experience in data entry and analysis, observe lab work, and an understanding of oncology research. Additional learning opportunities will be determined in collaboration with the intern that are in line with long-term career goals. The Intern will participate in creation of the Cord Blood Repository database, observe basic BSL-2 lab practices, management, and safety, and enhance their knowledge of the healthcare and research enviroment. Opportunities to learn community outreach and engagement will also be available. This internship is part time and number of hours per week are flexible based on the intern's availability within normal business hours.

Learn Data entry and analysis using basic computer skills and programs such as Excel and RedCap
• Observe work in a laboratory space and observe laboratory personnel working with established lab safety protocols.
• Observe members of the research team and their work on various projects
• Community outreach, engagement, and fundraising as needed.
• Observe other projects as agreed upon by both the intern and research team.
• Shadow and explore career paths of interest within the Cord Blood Transplant Program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current High School or Undergraduate Student
• Evidenced interest in health care and/or research.
• Works well collaborating with others.
• Highly Motivated with evidence of leadership role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve and eagerness to learn.
• Collaborative focus is essential, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.
• Technical skills necessary to complete learning opportunities via remote environment if necessary.
