Control Engineer, R&D

General Information:

In Grid Integration Service Solutions, we are currently looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to join our team of R&D specialists. Are you interested in developing control concepts and software for new charging solutions in the field of e-Mobility, such as eBus flash-charging, large electric vehicle depots / terminals and battery-powered trains? Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure delivery on the control elements of e-Mobility charging solutions including control/deployment architecture, hardware selection, programming, code review, testing and lifecycle management.

  • Develop / build proof of concepts as a step towards comprehensive control software development.

  • Review, test, verify, and/or validate and fine tune control software (PLC, process regulation, etc.) for eMobility charging solutions according to security development lifecycle.

  • Conduct and/or participate in unit / bench / integration and system testing of software products/features.

  • Lab testing and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and troubleshooting of new features.

  • Analyze the developed code, prepare bug reports, conduct root cause analysis, suggest fixes, implement and/or ensure implementation of the identified solution, subsequent verification, and validation steps.

  • Prepare or support in preparing technical documents (i.e. user manuals, deployment guidelines, troubleshooting guidelines, testing procedures and reports) in response to market / product / technical / functional / non-functional requirements specifications.

  • Act as expert support team member for troubleshooting control software issues with end users.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science or similar with 3-5 years of industry experience.

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

  • Experience in control software development with Codesys 3.5 (must have) and with SCADA, WEB-HMI, and remote access (nice to have).

  • Good understanding of electrical schematics.

  • Knowledge of electrical vehicles DC charging standards like ISO15118, OCPP, ISO61851, DIN SPEC 70121 would be a big advantage.

  • Experience in any of the following programming languages would be an advantage: Python, .Net, Java, C, Angular.

  • Experience with low voltage and medium voltage network distribution and on-site commission activities would be an advantage.

  • Experience with typical industrial communication protocols like IEC60870-104, Modbus, MQTT, OPC, IEC61850 and different TCP/IP network topologies.

  • Experience with microservice architectures, Docker containers or Kubernetes deployments would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge on Cyber Security topics would be an advantage.

  • Team spirit with the capacity to work independently, complemented by a quick intellect and well-developed analytical skills.

  • Experience working in an Agile development team would be preferred.

  • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken.

  • Experience in working with IEC standard, ANSI, UL, and US-specific standards (additional advantage)
