Electrical Engineer II

This position is responsible for the engineering of existing and planned electrical systems as required to develop oil and gas infrastructure in the company's Delaware Basin asset. Position plays a key role in success of overall field financial performance, safety program, and regulatory compliance. The role regularly interfaces with engineers of other disciplines as well as electrical field team. Position will be located in EOG's Midland Texas office. Periodic travel to field locations will be required. Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and optimize high, medium, and low voltage systems for field development of upstream and midstream facility operations including oilfield tank batteries, compressor stations and gas plants.
  • Model and plan power distribution systems fed from utility company (>500 miles company owned distribution currently in operation)
  • Scope and oversee design of electrical sub-stations including interfacing with utility company as required
  • Design and optimize microgrid operations as required throughout the field where commercial power is not available
  • Perform engineering analysis using electrical modeling software for sizing of new systems and retrofits
  • Help troubleshoot and reduce harmonics and power quality issues
  • Serve as technical resource on power generation systems (500kVA - 10 MVA) including application and selection of different technologies.
  • Provide technical assistance to field support personnel, electrical system studies, National Electrical Code interpretations.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in electrical modeling program (SKM, ETAP, etc.) for use to conduct power studies is required.
  • Experience working with or alongside public utility companies and their associated processes
  • Experience with design and troubleshooting of electric motors and related equipment including motor starters, motor protection relay, and variable frequency drives.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, government regulations, standards, pertaining to electrical systems such as NFPA, NEC, and API.
  • Awareness of oilfield upsteam oilfield operations is a plus
  • Awareness of sync power systems between self-generation and utility power is a plus
  • Candidate must have strong communication, interpersonal and technical skills, with the proven ability to build relationships and work in a multi-disciplined team. Must have the ability to work in a highly innovative, fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
