Department Overview

PG&E's Transportation Services department manages over 14,000 vehicles & equipment, capital planning, clean air and alternate fuel initiatives, project support, fleet applications, reporting and more. The Transportation team has several operating departments: Business Operations, Field Operations, Engineering and Rental Central. The Business Operations team provides various operational, technical, application, and diagnostic software support for PG&E's Transportation Services.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Fleet Systems Specialist to join Business Operations and grow our diagnostics program. This position works with IT/Cybersecurity from Transportation, representing the end users and other stakeholders in business system requirements, implementations, and support. The candidate defines user system requirements, provides user support, and administers software for dedicated diagnostic laptops. This position also supports fleet application initiatives such as application health/rationalization, application modernization and long-term strategic planning.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000

Bay Area Maximum: $152,000

Job Responsibilities

Diagnostic Program Support

  • Forecast and manage the budget for the diagnostic program, including license key renewals
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity and IT teams on new diagnostic software implementation
  • Provide technical training and hands-on support to Operations staff
  • Support and administration of security tools such as Microsoft Intune for diagnostic laptops
  • Work with IT, Cybersecurity and other stakeholders to troubleshoot diagnostic software and hardware issues
  • Evaluate new diagnostic tools and technologies, benchmarking against industry best practices
  • Monitor the performance of dedicated diagnostic laptops and coordinate with IT to address user concerns

Fleet Application Initiatives

  • Partner with IT on modernization, application health (e.g., SQL server upgrades), and other strategic activities for fleet applications
  • Provide consulting expertise on business and user requirements
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and perform quality reviews of test results

In this multifaceted role, you will be a critical link between the business, IT, and other key stakeholders, ensuring our diagnostic program and fleet applications effectively meet the needs of our Operations team.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 4 years experience in Engineering, IT or Business fields
  • Experience in project participation, medium complexity

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in business analysis, 5 years
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology, 5 years
  • Experience with diagnostic software/tools and knowledge of telematics devices.
  • Knowledge with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic software such as: Cummins Insite & QSOL, GM GDS2, Ford IDS, Allison DOC, International Navkal, Peterbilt ESA and others.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Intune, Power BI and other office products
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL/Oracle)
  • Detail oriented, good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals in multiple levels of union and leadership positions.
