This is an excellent opportunity for and Director of Education (40 hrs. /wk., benefits eligible) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
PURPOSE of POSITION:
The Director of Education will work with the Vice President (VP) of Education and department managers to provide leadership and supervision for the Education Department, including onboarding and training new staff members as well as supporting the professional development of existing staff members. They will support the VP of Education in developing and implementing an annual department operational plan, focused on providing equitable, inclusive, and culturally-responsive sex education to diverse communities across Wisconsin, in alignment with the strategic priorities of the agency and in order to inform the annual department budget. Additionally, they will hold the primary responsibility for ensuring that systems and processes are in place and effectively utilized by the department to monitor education programs, internal and external training efforts, and community outreach activities as well as evaluate program outcomes and report to agency leadership, funders, and others on related metrics.

- This position requires a self-motivated, analytical leader with a strong understanding of health education, public health, and health equity as well as demonstrated program planning and evaluation, project management, and supervision skills.
- This person must also have strong facilitation, coalition building, and leadership skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- They will also need to be able to relay sensitive information regarding sexuality, reproductive health issues, values formation, and decision making to young people and adults.
- An understanding of and strong personal commitment to reproductive rights, justice, and the goals and philosophies of PPWI is required.
- Experience writing, monitoring, and reporting for grants.
- Experience with MS Office products and databases.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's in public health, health education, nonprofit management, or related field required. At least five years of work experience in school or community-based health education, professional training, community outreach, building and maintaining relationships with community partners, and/or program planning, implementation, and evaluation. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Must have demonstrated supervisory experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilitiesin accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees; planning,assigning, and directing work;appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions.
Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
This position requires traveling statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required if driving a personal vehicle.
