This is an excellent opportunity for and Director of Education (40 hrs. /wk., benefits eligible) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
PURPOSE of POSITION:
The Director of Education will work with the Vice President (VP) of Education and department managers to provide leadership and supervision for the Education Department, including onboarding and training new staff members as well as supporting the professional development of existing staff members. They will support the VP of Education in developing and implementing an annual department operational plan, focused on providing equitable, inclusive, and culturally-responsive sex education to diverse communities across Wisconsin, in alignment with the strategic priorities of the agency and in order to inform the annual department budget. Additionally, they will hold the primary responsibility for ensuring that systems and processes are in place and effectively utilized by the department to monitor education programs, internal and external training efforts, and community outreach activities as well as evaluate program outcomes and report to agency leadership, funders, and others on related metrics.

- This position requires a self-motivated, analytical leader with a strong understanding of health education, public health, and health equity as well as demonstrated program planning and evaluation, project management, and supervision skills.
- This person must also have strong facilitation, coalition building, and leadership skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- They will also need to be able to relay sensitive information regarding sexuality, reproductive health issues, values formation, and decision making to young people and adults.
- An understanding of and strong personal commitment to reproductive rights, justice, and the goals and philosophies of PPWI is required.
- Experience writing, monitoring, and reporting for grants.
- Experience with MS Office products and databases.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's in public health, health education, nonprofit management, or related field required. At least five years of work experience in school or community-based health education, professional training, community outreach, building and maintaining relationships with community partners, and/or program planning, implementation, and evaluation. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Must have demonstrated supervisory experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilitiesin accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees; planning,assigning, and directing work;appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions.
Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
This position requires traveling statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required if driving a personal vehicle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILIETIES
  • Support the development and oversight of the annual Education Department operational plan based on core department functions, agency priories, and demonstrated community need.
  • Serve as a member of the department leadership team, advising on and participating in decisions related to department programs and processes as well as supervising team members.
  • Stay abreast of research, innovations, and best practices in sex education to ensure the development and delivery of effective programming and training.
  • Regularly monitor community health outcomes as well as assess the strengths, capacity, needs, and desires of the communities we serve to ensure that programming and training is equitable, inclusive, and culturally-responsive.
  • Oversee the development, updating, and/or selection of curricula used for internal and external education and training.
  • Develop and oversee monitoring and reporting mechanisms to evaluate progress on the department's operational plan.
  • Monitor and ensure department compliance. Serve as a member of the agency QRM team.
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with other departments to ensure maximum impact of our collective efforts to fulfill the mission of the organization.
  • Work with other department leadership and the Development Department to secure grants and other funding for programming. Monitor progress, develop reports for funders, and ensure completion of grant-funded activities.
  • Ensure education programming fulfills responsibility as an effective community partner by serving as a liaison to community networks and organizations.
  • Steward community and organizational relationships, including establishing formal relationships through processes such as contracts and MOUs, that advance the agency mission.
  • Directly facilitate youth and adult education and training sessions, as needed.
