Compensation: $50,000 annually

Worksite Location: NCAT Campus

Overview / Job Summary:

The Outreach Coordinator works directly with school districts, faculty, students, families, and community partners to increase the number of citizens in south central Kansas building and receiving information on the careers and educational pathways in manufacturing and machining. The position works to make a difference in schools and the community by fostering resources and knowledges among first generation college families and underrepresented populations to provide motivation and support for students and families to take action toward goals that provide an opportunity for a successful life in the field of manufacturing and machining.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:


  • Build relationships with industry members, K-12 partners, and community-based organizations to promote manufacturing and machining.
  • Coordinate with High School Partnerships and Community Outreach department to engage with K-12 partners and community-based organizations to install and setup manufacturing/machining programs, camps, workshops, and other educational or training activities.
  • Produce and disseminate materials targeted to family and community members
  • Be creative in the implementation of programs and marketing tools to focus on manufacturing as an educational and career path for underrepresented groups or individuals.
  • Works with other college personnel to build relationships with industry partners to support knowledge about manufacturing and machining.


You'll also represent the Manufacturing department and WSU Tech at public events, stay updated through professional development, and have a comprehensive understanding of the admissions process for new students. Additionally, you'll be knowledgeable about local manufacturing careers and sectors, providing valuable insights to students and the community.

Education:

  • Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.


Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Three or more years of experience working in higher education. Experience working with first generation college students and families preferred. Three or more years of experience working in manufacturing with experience working as a CNC Machinist or similar, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC operations
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability to be project/task oriented and work independently with little supervision.
  • High level of communication skills required (oral and written)


Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work autonomously, exercising good judgement & discretion.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures.
  • Must be able to work a varied work schedule as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong organization skills.
