Purpose of the role The Planning Manager, Programming for BBC Global Digital News & Streaming will support collaborative planning initiatives for content across BBC.com News & Features, the BBC News Channel, Podcasts, and Documentaries. Working with different lines of business, they will help bring together editorial plans and cultural calendars to identify opportunities and align programming for non-UK audiences. Main Responsibilitiess • Editorial Alignment o Maintain a comprehensive and cohesive cross-platform calendar that pulls together editorial plans across numerous components of the BBC Global News & Streaming group. o Serve as main point-person to gather editorial plans from stakeholders o Manage additional resources that showcase content plans in various formats (i.e., presentations, project management tools, etc) • Long-Term Planning o Collaborate with leadership on long-term planning to help identify opportunities, fill gaps, and ensure a steady rollout of engaging content for non-UK audiences o Build and manage a database that captures pivotal news moments, holidays, anniversaries, and key competitive events for use across multiple teams • Internal Communications o Act as a central source of information for content plans and editorial priorities o Develop workflows to streamline communication, increase information-sharing, and help build awareness around editorial planning and alignment o Prepare materials for monthly Program Highlights presentations and present a portion of the meeting • Ad hoc o Contribute to miscellaneous projects, presentations, and tasks to support the collaborative efforts of the BBC Global Digital News & Streaming group o Support junior employees and interns by providing guidance on various projects and contribute to learning opportunities Scope & Impact The Planning Manager will be the point-person for collecting, filtering, and disseminating program plans across the organization. Their work will contribute to synergies that will enhance the content experience for consumers, and consequently help support revenue and audience growth in ex-UK markets. Relationships As part of day-to-day responsibilities, the Planning Manager will maintain numerous relationships across content/editorial teams including but not limited to Digital News, Sport, Features, Audio, Video, and the BBC News Channel. In addition, they will liase with other groups including PR, Marketing, Research, and Ad Sales. They will also serve as a leader on special projects and as necessary guide the work of junior staff.
