Hershey & his wife Catherine, Milton Hershey School (MHS) provides a cost-free home, food, clothing, healthcare, and education to over 1,900 students from under-served settings. The school is expanding to serve more students and plans to increase enrollment to 2,300 students.

The unique and child-centered structure of MHS's Health Services programs enables nurses to focus where their heart is - on student/patient care. We have on campus a 24/7/365 health center facility with 40-bed infirmary and 3 school medical clinics with state-of-the art equipment. At MHS, we seek to educate the whole child. We care about providing comprehensive health and wellness programs for our students. These include free medical, dental & psychological care. MHS is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant (CNA/CMA) to join the growing team. The CNAs assist the registered nurses to provide high quality health care to students from PreK - 12 grades in a 40-bed Health Center and in the school-based clinics. This includes assisting with admissions & discharge procedures of students, providing care tasks including vital signs, basic first aid, rooming students, vision testing, and supportive care, as well as transporting and accompanying students to and from medical appointments off-campus including emergency room visits. CNAs must always maintain confidentiality and professional accountability while striving to provide high quality health care and programs that are "child-centered", consistent with the vision and mission of the School and the Student Health Services program.

This is a Monday - Friday day-shift position with hours from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm (40 hours per week) in the health center or school clinic, and every other weekend requirement to support the department and students need.
Hourly pay rate: $17.22 - $23.00, pay is determined based on the experience. Full-time employees are eligible for an excellent benefits package, which includes paid time off, medical, and dental insurance, and financial benefits.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or other technical school, certification, training, or apprenticeship beyond high school required.
  • Valid current certification from a state approved Nursing or Medical Assistant training program or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in providing nursing aide care in a hospital, clinic or residential care facility required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Valid PA driver's license in good standing.
  • OSHA trained for blood-borne pathogens.
  • Physically able to lift and assist injured students.
  • Willing to support and follow school & departmental policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed and specific instructions accurately.
  • Commitment to provide high quality care to children and youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and team environment in a busy and dynamic work setting.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a high of integrity, as all MHS Staff are considered role models for MHS Students.
