Senior Commercial Lines Claims Coordinator

Primary Purpose:

The responsibility of this position is to maintain carrier/client collaboration and advocacy of commercial lines claims and assist in determining plans of action and/or claims management expectations. Work directly with multiple insurance company representatives and clients to manage the claim outcome and overall costs on all lines of commercial insurance coverage. Present claim status reports at claims reviews.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Develop positive relationships with VIP clients, producers, and carriers.
  • Act as a resource/point of contact for complex claims issues.
  • Reduce loss costs associated with claims.
  • Oversee insurance representatives and case manager's handling of claims and aggressively pursue timely closure of all claims.
  • Assist in investigations of claims, compensability, and damages.
  • Participate in claims strategy development with insurance representatives and attorneys.
  • Develop, facilitate, and present effective claims management training and resources to educate our clients.
  • Analyze claims status, prepare and/or present reports to Account Executives and clients as requested.
  • Keep abreast of all new developments in the claim arena through periodicals, seminars, membership organizations, and carrier meetings.
  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of insurance coverages and markets
  • Maintain a claims status diary of select client's claims
  • Document claim activity on agency and account management system
  • Other assignments as directed by management



Required Skills and Competencies:



  • Ability to work in: Norfolk, VA; Richmond, VA; or Raleigh, NC
  • Minimum two years prior experience as a Claim Representative/Adjuster with practical knowledge of all major commercial insurance lines of coverage and claims principles, terminology, and practices/procedures.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook



Preferred Skills and Competencies:



  • Knowledge of Epic Applied Agency systems.
  • Working knowledge/proficiency with carrier websites/portals.
  • Ability to prepare and present client presentations with clarity and understanding.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret claims information and loss date to facilitate decision-making.
  • Insurance designations/certifications such as AIC courses a plus
  • P&C License a plus
