Position Summary:
The Environmental Biogeochemical Processes Lab (EBP) in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of environmental biogeochemistry/environmental engineering, especially in the fate and transport of target substances (e.g., environmental pollutants, H2, or CO2) in surface and/or subsurface environments in the context of water-food-energy nexus.

Essential Functions:
- The researcher will work closely with the PI (Dr. Lijie Zhang) and independently lead the efforts to design and execute research ideas.
- Prepare high-quality peer-reviewed articles.

Additional Functions:
- Assist in supervising masters or undergraduate students.
- Assist in writing grant proposals and reports.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- An earned Ph.D. in environmental biogeochemistry/environmental engineering or a related field is required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment are required.
- A record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and competent writing skills are considered important.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in transformation of heavy metals or organic contaminants is preferred, and practical experience in microbial analyses and field studies is a plus.
