The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a System Administrator to join a team dedicated to collecting and transforming data from the Naval Nuclear fleet for analytics throughout the Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, installation and configuration, operation, maintenance, and performance of hardware and software systems and related infrastructure. Areas of responsibility include: * Evaluation of new software and hardware technologies. * Deliver creative solutions to maintain or improve reliability and performance. * Develop and implement security policies and procedures. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience or;
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of networking, computing, and storage architectures. * Experience with Unix or Linux. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Knowledge of virtual infrastructure implementations. * Experience with scripting or programming.
