Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) Field Engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard: RPCO engineers operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment and independently exercise authority to ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner. RPCO field engineers are on-site representatives of the Naval Reactors Program laboratories and component supply organizations. The selected candidate will provide engineering support and independent oversight of work associated with installation, testing, and modification of reactor plant systems, components, and safety systems. RPCO engineers provide a deckplate presence during performance of nuclear work and operations and are expected to utilize their technical breadth and depth to influence and provide feedback to on-site management and partner organizations. This position involves direct interaction with Navy personnel, shipyard engineering, site organizations, local government representatives, and partner organizations at NNL and BPMI. Successful completion of a job-specific qualification is required for this position. Training associated with this qualification is expected to take approximately 6-8 months, depending on previous experience, and will be conducted at the Knolls Laboratory Site or Bettis Laboratory Site. At the conclusion of the qualification, the prospective RPCO Field Engineer will be expected to demonstrate an adequate understanding of reactor plant requirements and the ability to function in an engineering and oversight capacity at a remote location. This position is an excellent broadening opportunity through hands-on experience. Opportunities to travel to other field locations may exist to support peak work periods. This is a 3 to 5 year assignment in a field office upon completion of qualification. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience or;
MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience or; Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified or qualified SIT and three years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program or Current or previous CRE Qualification, or six years as SRE, or SRE qualified with nine years of experience Preferred Skills
