Tooling Assistant - Mold & Die Setter

The Tooling Assistant will assume multiple duties in support of the Tool Shop. Through the direction of the Tooling Lead and Tooling Engineers, the Tooling Assistant is involved in the upkeep and repair of Molds, and small lot machining. You will assist in the cleaning of molds as well as perform the role of a back-up Die / Mold Setter.

Position responsibilities include:



  • Enforce and adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Log and provide status for work orders and tools entering and exiting the shop.
  • Collaborate with Tooling Lead and/or Tooling Engineers about needed repairs/issues with tooling and work instructions.
  • Occasionally interact with other department leads, Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in regards to tooling issues and or status.
  • Operate Plastic Bead blaster, hand tools for mold cleaning and repairs
  • Update Date Codes on Molds/Tooling
  • Hoist Operation trained/certified (In-House training)
  • Forklift Operator trained/certified (In-House training)
  • May perform a variety of machining functions such as precision deburring, manual machining, drilling and tapping
  • Operate machine-shop tools (lathes, grinder, etc.) in accordance with daily/future Fabrication and Tooling production needs.
  • Contribute to a Safety-First Culture by identifying Risky Situations


Requirements:



  • Exhibit a high degree of responsibility with emphasis on safety.
  • Able to meet the Physical Demands usually associated with the essential functions of this classification: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Ability to adjust focus Ability to meet the safety requirements and able to lift
  • A good knowledge of various types of machining equipment (Lathes, Grinders, Drills, etc.).
  • Experience in Plastic Bead Blasting/Sandblasting
  • Must be a self-starter that requires limited supervision to do a job.
  • Must also be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Qualified applicants will be proficient with all shop measuring tools and equipment, have the ability to read and interpret shop drawings and be computer literate.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and technical training; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship
