Next-Generation Sequencing Research Scientist

Job Description

1 Purpose. To drive drug discovery with advanced genomics.

The Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department merges cutting-edge technical capabilities with deep scientific expertise to deliver bold innovations to enable therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. We seek a highly motivated scientist to join our multidisciplinary Next-Generation Sequencing group. We drive technical innovation through the deployment of pioneering genomic technologies to enable rapid discovery of new biology, novel drug targets, and disease biomarkers. This hands-on role offers an opportunity to learn and work closely with bench and data scientists within and outside the group to impact genomics projects across NIBR.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Plan and execute experiments using suite of RNA, epigenetics and targeted sequencing technologies

- Help build novel genomics methods to meet emerging needs, e.g. in cell and gene therapy

- QC and interpret genomics data

- Troubleshoot and communicate effectively with team members

- Work collaboratively with genomics scientists, disease area researchers and data scientists to advance drug discovery efforts

Minimum requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

- BS degree in biology, genomics, or related field, with 0-3 years of related research experience

- Hands-on experience in molecular biology or Next-Generation Sequencing

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Desirable skills:

- Experience in automated liquid handling

- Familiarity with command line Linux and Python scripting
