Duties & Responsibilities * Safely operate a garbage truck on assigned residential routes to collect solid waste. * Read route sheets and service customers assigned by the dispatcher. * Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking fluids, tires, and safety equipment. * Perform physically demanding work, including loading and unloading, sometimes without a helper. * Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse. * Dispose of collected waste at designated facilities. * Provide courteous, professional service to customers. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements * Valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement at minimum. * Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English. * 2 years of driving experience preferred. * Basic knowledge of truck components and the ability to complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections. * Waste industry experience is preferred but not required. Physical & Working Conditions * Must be able to perform strenuous physical work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing over 50 pounds. * Work around moving mechanical equipment while following required safety precautions. * Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including wet and humid conditions. * Regular exposure to fumes, vibration, and moderate noise levels.
