Position Summary
The Department
of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
at the University of New Mexico Health
Sciences is seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for an academic faculty
position suitable for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate
Professor, or Professor on the Open Track. The successful candidate will join
the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and contribute to the
department's clinical, educational, and research missions.

This position
is designed for a clinician-scientist with a strong interest in maintaining an
independent research program. Fifty percent (50%) of effort will be devoted to
clinical activities within the Children's Psychiatric Center Outpatient
Services
, including the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents
and the supervision of residents, fellows, and other trainees through both
clinical and didactic teaching. Fifty percent (50%) of effort will be protected
for research activities, including the conservation and conduct of an
independent research program within the Division of Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry.

The Department
is committed to supporting the successful candidate's research development.
Research start-up funds of $25,000 annually for up to three years will be
provided to support equipment, supplies, research personnel, and related
scholarly activities. The goal of this protected research time and start-up
support is to facilitate the continuation of an externally funded research
program within three years. Continued protected research effort beyond the
initial support period will be contingent upon obtaining external funding and
demonstrated scholarly productivity. Any unfunded research effort may be
reallocated to clinical, teaching, administrative, or other academic duties at
the discretion of the Department Chair.

As a member of
our supportive and collegial department, the selected candidate will have
opportunities for multicultural clinical care, collaborative scholarship,
mentorship, leadership development, and participation in educational activities
involving medical students, residents, fellows, postdoctoral trainees, and
learners in related disciplines. Research collaborations are available across
the Health Sciences Center and throughout New Mexico, including opportunities
focused on child mental health, community-based interventions, population
health, and health disparities.

We are eager to
recruit an individual with a passion for child and adolescent psychiatry,
academic medicine, and research. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate
with training, experience, and academic accomplishments.
