Full-Time \| 36 Hours per Week \| 5 Days per Week Join Mercy Hospital Washington as a Senior Surgery Scheduler Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgical and diagnostic procedures for patients while ensuring an exceptional patient experience. This role serves as a vital connection between physicians, patients, surgical facilities, insurance providers, and hospital departments to ensure seamless scheduling and preparation for procedures. Key Responsibilities Surgical & Procedure Scheduling Schedule surgical and major diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians. Coordinate procedure dates and times with hospitals, surgery centers, anesthesia providers, and physician offices. Schedule procedures accurately and within established timeframes (typically within 48 hours of receiving orders). Cancel or reschedule procedures as requested by physicians, patients, or facilities. Manage scheduling requirements, facility availability, and insurance restrictions. Patient Communication & Support Provide patients and families with clear pre-procedure instructions. Answer questions regarding procedure preparation, facility location, arrival times, and expected length of stay. Deliver compassionate, patient-focused service throughout the scheduling process. Documentation & Medical Records Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC electronic medical records (EMR). Prepare, scan, and submit supporting clinical documentation, including:Diagnostic imagingLaboratory resultsPrevious testing reportsPhysician-requested medical records Insurance & Authorization Coordination Verify insurance requirements for scheduled procedures. Ensure all necessary pre-authorizations, referrals, and precertifications are completed before procedures are scheduled. Communicate with insurance providers and healthcare facilities to prevent delays in patient care. Qualifications Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Experience Minimum one year of experience in:Medical office schedulingSurgical schedulingPhysician practice operationsHealthcare administration Required Skills Medical terminology knowledge EPIC EMR experience preferred Strong computer and data-entry skills Excellent telephone etiquette Customer service and patient communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Attention to detail and accuracy Excellent verbal and written communication skills Why Mercy?
