Department Information

ISyE is a collegial school. Course teams meet regularly, teaching faculty and tenure-track faculty share responsibility for the undergraduate program, and instructional decisions are made through faculty governance in which teaching faculty participate directly.

The School invests in the development of its teaching faculty. Lecturers have access to Georgia Tech's Center for Teaching and Learning and to institutional programs supporting educational innovation and are supported in pursuing external opportunities in engineering education, including conference participation, educational research collaboration, and competitive fellowships. Georgia Tech's lecturer track provides a defined path for promotion per the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook.

Job Summary

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech invites applications for one or more full-time, non-tenure-track teaching faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, beginning August 2027 or earlier. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. These are academic-year (9-month) appointments with the opportunity for summer teaching.

Teaching faculty are central to ISyE's educational mission. They teach courses that carry a large share of our undergraduate enrollment, participate in shaping how the curriculum is delivered, and carry substantial responsibility for the quality of the undergraduate experience.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will serve as instructor of record for their courses, with authority over syllabus design, assessment, grading, and course delivery, working in coordination with associate chairs, director of student services, and faculty colleagues to maintain consistency across sections. Teaching assignments will be drawn from the School's undergraduate core and electives across areas including probability and statistics, data science, machine learning and AI, optimization, stochastic systems, simulation, manufacturing, energy, supply chain and logistics, and health systems. Candidates are encouraged to propose electives in their areas of expertise.

Teaching faculty also participate in the School's project-based and experiential courses, including Cornerstone Design (ISYE 3106) and the Senior Design capstone (ISYE 4106), in which every ISyE undergraduate works on a team addressing a live design challenge for an external sponsor. Faculty in these courses advise or evaluate student teams and work directly with sponsoring organizations.

Additional responsibilities include:

Contributing to curriculum development, course and program assessment, and ABET accreditation activities

Advising and mentoring undergraduate students

Participating in School, College, and professional service appropriate to rank

The teaching load is six courses, or the equivalent of 18 credit hours, per academic year, with flexibility in course assignment according to program need.
