Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of Principal Investigator, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Graduate Assistant will work with Dr. Brant's laboratory on genetics of inflammatory bowel diseases (
IBD) research projects. The research team will be performing three projects: recruitment of patients with
IBD and healthy controls for genetic association studies; epigenetic analyses on diverse ancestral populations using
ATAC-Seq complemented by gene expression using
RNA-Seq to understand differential genetic association of
IBD loci by ancestry; and statistical genetics association and bioinformatic analyses to determine
IBD risk variants by ancestry and those that interact with environmental factors.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with recruitment of subjects with IBD and healthy controls.
- Assists in maintaining accuracy and completion of all study related material.
- Assists with data entry and shipping of samples.
- Assists with proper labeling, storage and recording of human samples.
- Assists with isolation of T lymphocytes from blood samples, isolation of DNA and RNA, and performance of ATACseq laboratory protocol.
- Organizes data generated from ATAC-Seq analyses for comparison with known IBD gene associations.
- Assists in analyses of IBD gene association by chromosomal ancestry and bioinformatic analyses of results.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor in genetics or higher required. Must be a Rutgers Student enrolled in graduate program.
- Cell culture experience.
- Experience with genetic association analyses, bioinformatics analyses, and handling genetic association data.
- Experience with Microsoft Office required.
