In this role, you will help shape the future of digital shopping through agentic commerce, enabling AI agents to interact directly with merchant ecosystems to deliver seamless, real-time consumer shopping experiences. As a Senior Customer Solutions Engineer, you will focus on driving technical implementations of the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and centralizing merchant platform integrations to scale these next-generation commerce solutions globally. Working at the intersection of developer relations, eCommerce infrastructure, and cutting-edge AI, you will guide retail partners, enterprise merchants, and third-party developers through backend API integrations. You will serve as the champion for the partner experience, collaborating directly with internal Engineering and Product teams to improve merchant tooling, debug integration paths, and scale agentic commerce solutions globally. Key Responsibilities Technical Partner Integration & Engineering Guidance
- Protocol & API Onboarding: Guide partner developer teams through the ucp.dev technical specifications and core merchant center platform configurations to ensure seamless backend integration.
- Troubleshooting & Debugging: Dive into system logs, inspect JSON/API payloads, and resolve complex backend/integration errors alongside merchant engineering teams.
- Launch Validation: Conduct end-to-end integration testing to ensure merchant inventories, dynamic pricing, and transactional APIs operate accurately prior to public launch.
Operational Incubation & Process Scaling
- Edge-Case Documentation: Identify, solve, and document integration edge cases to build canonical developer guides, operational runbooks, and integration best practices.
- Standardizing Workflows: Turn early-stage, bespoke technical implementations into scalable, repeatable onboarding workflows for global enterprise merchants.
Tooling Feedback & Product Advocacy ("Customer Zero")
- Internal Tooling Validation: Serve as "Customer Zero" by rigorously testing new internal and external partner onboarding portals, SDKs, and developer tools before broad market rollout.
- Data-Driven Feedback: Analyze recurring technical blockers and partner trends to propose feature enhancements and product bug fixes directly to core Product and Engineering teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical partner engineering, solutions architecture, integration engineering, or developer relations (L5 level equivalent).
- Technical Proficiency: Deep hands-on experience working with REST/gRPC APIs, JSON/XML parsing, webhooks, system log analysis, and backend API debugging.
- eCommerce & AI Domain Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with eCommerce architectures (e.g., product feeds, inventory management, checkout pipelines) and exposure to AI agent / LLM API interactions.
- Partner-Facing Communication: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of guiding external developer teams, software architects, and technical executives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Platform Familiarity: Prior experience integrating with enterprise merchant centers or major eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, SAP Commerce Cloud).
- Protocol Development: Familiarity with open commerce protocols, schema definitions, and web standard specifications (ucp.dev).
- Analytical Skills: Experience using data logs and analytics tools to track integration performance, diagnose widespread issues, and build data-driven product requirements.
