Overview



Veeco Instruments is looking for ahighcaliber and motivated Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering Group. As part of this group, the individual will drive development activities to enable next-generation product platforms and technologies.



Responsibilities





  • Support the development of technologies for semiconductor equipment systems including Ion Beam Deposition,Etchand other platforms targeting a variety of applications.







  • Work hands-on with building, testing, troubleshooting, and generating testing reports of related high vacuum process equipment.







  • Develop concepts as well as drive design andtesting ofnew components/sub-systems across product lines. This includes the design of advanced systemsrelatedhigh vacuum process equipment.







  • Determinethe system/component specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.







  • Perform advanced data and statistical analysis to study system and process output signals andsubsequentlyidentifyand/or resolve issues.







  • Coordinate with mechanical/electrical engineering, marketing, field support, and supply chain groups in carrying out system development and improvements.







  • Work closely with the process development group to set up and assess the performance of experimental prototypes.








  • Use problem-solving methods and systems analysis to break down and solve complex problems.







  • Document results through technical status reports.







  • Assistin marathon testing and/or beta site testing at system/sub-system level and analyzefield-performance.







  • Must be able to travel up to20% internationally and domestically.





Qualifications



Bachelor's degree inElectricalEngineeringor a closely related engineering disciplinewith 2 years of experience inelectrical systems, controls, instrumentation, or test engineering,or aMaster'sdegree isrequired.Experience with electrical design, troubleshooting, data acquisition, control systems, and 2D CAD systems is preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities





  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including controls, instrumentation, sensors, signal conditioning, data acquisition,LabVIEW,and machine control systems







  • Hands-on ability to assemble/disassemble complex parts and prototyping/testing experiencerequired







  • Experience inanalyzing and presenting data usingPython,Excel,or otherengineering analysistools







  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills







  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex concepts and analysis







  • General knowledge of electrical control systems, PLCs, motion control, interlocks, and machine control architecture is helpful






Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $ 105,316.00 - $157,663.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
