Job Overview

The Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine - Division of Neuropsychology & Medical Psychology is seeking two adult Clinical Neuropsychologists to join our growing and collegial department.Many opportunities exist for professional consultation and collaboration within our active Psychology Division and broader department.

One Neuropsychologist will focus primarily on epilepsy, closely collaborating with neurologists in the Epilepsy Division. A portion of time will be devoted to people with other diagnoses. Many of the physicians in Epilepsy Division are national and international leaders in the field. The Epilepsy Center at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute is one of the most experienced in the U.S., having performed epilepsy surgery for 30 years. Another Neuropsychologist will serve people who have TBI, CVA, brain tumors, and a range of other complex neurological disorders, with close collaboration with our physician colleagues in PM&R and Neurology. Opportunities for specialization are available.

In this role, the Neuropsychologist will provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to adults with a wide variety of cognitive disorders. Referrals come from our neurology and rehabilitation medicine colleagues, as well as from the entire medical system. Following administration and scoring of test data, the candidate will offer feedback on assessment results and recommendations to the patient and family, as well as consultation with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Additionally, there will be opportunities to develop specialty interests in neurotrauma, rehabilitation, epilepsy, MS, memory disorders, movement, etc.

Collaboration on research projects with Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine faculty and other scholarly pursuits is encouraged but not required. Opportunities for teaching and supervision are also available.

Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to a general adult population with a wide variety of cognitive disorders.
  • Possibility to work closely with a psychometrist in the administration and scoring of test data.
  • Offer feedback on assessment results and recommendations to the patient and family.
  • Consultation with the multidisciplinary treatment team will also be expected
  • Opportunities to develop specialty interests in neurotrauma, rehabilitation, epilepsy, MS, memory disorders, movement, etc.
  • Collaboration on research projects with Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine faculty and other scholarly pursuits is encouraged but not required.
  • Opportunities for teaching and supervision are also available.
  • Provide psychological assessments, diagnosis, consultation, intervention, and related psychological services to patients and families.
  • Apply and supervise the application of psychological procedures and techniques in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders.
  • Function as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide education and support regarding psychosocial and behavioral issues to medical school faculty, attending physicians, nursing staff, residents, interns, medical students, and other trainees.
  • Participate in regular supervision meetings, staff meetings, and Clinical Training Seminar meetings.
  • Fulfill medical records, billing, HIPAA, and other administrative requirements associated with patient care.

Required Education
  • Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Ohio or license-eligible.
  • ABPP or ABPP-eligible.
  • Two-years of supervised post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology.
