Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department ofEnvironmental and Public Health Sciencesis a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences (DEPHS) at the College of Medicine (COM) seeks an outstanding individual to fill a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to join its fast-growing Public Health Programs.

The successful candidate will serve in a key leadership role supporting the Great Lakes OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center and advancing the University's mission in occupational and environmental health, workforce development, and community engagement. Specific research areas of interest include health policy, health services, health economics, health management, health system/program evaluation, comparison and implementation, and/or health technology and outcome assessments. The appointee can anticipate an opportunity to become a member of several multidisciplinary research/educational centers/institutes including an NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center (ERC); the NIH funded Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training (CCTST); and UC's Cancer Institute, Neuroscience Institute and Cardiovascular Institute. He/she can expect routine interaction with faculty at the Cincinnati Children's Medical Center and the Cincinnati VA Hospital Medical Center, as well as with colleagues at the NIOSH and the US EPA.

Essential Functions
  • Manage Departmental OSHA continuing education programs, including student portal, payment management, and certification distribution
  • Teach public health courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in the areas of health services, health systems, population health, environmental health, qualitative methods, and policy or other relevant topics as needed
  • Advise and mentor students in academic development and achievement as well as in applied practical experience/integrated learning experiences
  • Assist with MPH curriculum development, innovation, and continuous quality improvement as well as program assessment, and involvement with professional societies through service
  • Collaborate with MPH faculty and leadership to ensure program success, student satisfaction, and alignment with workforce needs
  • Participate in MPH program meetings, accreditation preparation, strategic planning, and departmental service activities
  • Establish, implement, and uphold MPH policies to ensure the effective delivery and management of all assigned courses and program activities
  • Undertake other duties assigned from the MPH Program.
Minimum Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (e.g., DrPH, PhD, or equivalent) in public health or a related field
Required Experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community.
