Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V within the Behavioral Sciences section at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Laboratory Manager or Research Teaching Specialist I, the Research Teaching Specialist V performs research activities. Additionally, the Research Teaching Specialist V performs work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Participates in all aspects of research and ensures compliance with study protocols. Monitors progress of projects. Reports to the Principal Investigator on project progress, problems, and the need for adjustments.
  • Recruits, screens, consents, and enrolls participants for studies per project timelines. Ensures participant completion of study activities per protocol. Maintains study recruitment, accrual, and participation documents and incentives.
  • Creates surveys using survey software programs as directed. Conducts remote qualitative interviews/surveys and administers surveys per study protocol. Abstracts information from medical records per protocol, maintaining confidentiality of data.
  • Responsible for study data entry, data management, preliminary data screening, and data cleaning throughout the project. As directed, provides support in other data processing and analysis. Prepares reports as requested.
  • Assists with progress reports, administrative, regulatory, and study accrual/progress updates for all assigned studies.
  • Prepares and maintains regulatory documentation, including IRB, OnCore, and Clinicaltrials.gov as needed.
  • Actively participates in study related meetings and conference calls. Develops meeting agendas and minutes and presents reports and study updates.
  • Conducts targeted literature searches and web searches. As directed, provides support in the preparation of presentations. Assists in the preparation of publishable manuscripts and grants.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Health Education).
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated detail orientation; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Research activities may require flexible (i.e., evening or weekend) activities on occasion per project demands.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research experience an asset.
  • Skills with survey building software such as REDCap and experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and IRB submissions preferred.
