Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico (Albuquerque)
invites applications for a Lecturer II or III position in Liberal
Arts and Integrative Studies specializing in health professions/health science. The Liberal Arts and Integrative Studies Program (LAIS)
and Office of Pre-Health Professions Student Development, both located in
University College, strive to connect humanistic inquiry with health education
to benefit students. We seek qualified applicants who can synthesize healthcare
education with humanities (and/or interdisciplinary studies) to ensure students
develop the clinical and humanistic skills needed to succeed.

The Liberal Arts and Integrative Studies Program (LAIS) is
an interdisciplinary academic program that enables students to customize their
major by combining two or more distinct fields of study-including
multidisciplinary knowledge, theories, data, and methods-into a focused program
of study, or to pursue one of LAIS's growing concentrations, such as Pre-Law,
National Security and Strategic Analysis, or Pre-Health Professions. Regardless
of their path, LAIS students develop the ability to make meaningful connections
across diverse areas of knowledge. Supporting this interdisciplinary mission,
the Office of Pre-Health Professions Student Development helps students
interested in health professions explore career options and understand the
academic and non-academic requirements for admission to professional programs,
emphasizing the importance of early preparation for a successful application
and career after college. Together, LAIS and the Office contribute to
University College's mission to provide collaborative opportunities for
integrative learning that foster personal, academic, and professional
excellence through academically rich undergraduate programs that cross
departmental and college boundaries, while University College also supports
incoming students and provides an administrative structure for important
interdisciplinary programs.
