Overview
The School of Arts and Sciences (A&S) is committed to excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity, and student success across the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and interdisciplinary programs. The A&S Dean's Office provides academic and administrative leadership across the school's departments and programs, including undergraduate and graduate education, faculty affairs, student support, and strategic planning. The Program Hub Administrator supports the A&S Strategic Plan's goal of piloting a divisional coordination model, beginning with the Arts & Humanities division, to enable more effective cross-departmental collaboration in curriculum planning, academic scheduling, and interdisciplinary pathway development.
What You'll Do
In collaboration with Dean Academic Affairs for Arts & Humanities, participates in development of goals and strategies for the Arts & Humanities hub. Applies specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review and evaluate center and programs. Responsible for implementing timely, effective communications to promote the program.
Reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs for Arts & Humanities, the Program Administrator provides development and implementation for cross-departmental curriculum coordination, academic planning, and divisional collaboration, working closely with related department chairs, program directors, and related administrators. Across all departments in the division, the Program Administrator manages operations, logistics and administration that makes cross-departmental coordination possible. Faculty, including department chairs and program directors, set the intellectual and academic agenda. This position works with them to design and implement divisional initiatives, supporting cross-unit connections and building the scheduling, data, communication, and coordination structures that allow collaborative programs to take shape. The Program Administrator develops sufficient familiarity with faculty expertise, course content, and departmental structures to make informed recommendations to chairs and the Dean of Academic Affairs about curricular clustering, scheduling, and collaborative opportunities. This position is designed to be adaptable and to serve as a pilot model for divisional coordination across A&S academic units.
- Curriculum coordination and scheduling
- Build and maintain a coordinated course schedule across Arts & Humanities departments, identifying conflicts, overlaps, and scheduling gaps.
- Consolidate and maintain multi-year curricular planning data across departments, developing a divisional view of course offerings to support academic planning, advising, enrollment management, and faculty hiring discussions.
- Track and analyze enrollment and course demand patterns; prepare reports and recommendations for department chairs and academic leaders.
- Coordinate operational aspects of cross-listed courses, shared curricular initiatives, and interdisciplinary academic pathways in partnership with departments, the Registrar, and GSAS as appropriate.
- Facilitate communication among departments during curriculum planning cycles to support coordinated decision-making before schedules are finalized.
- Interdisciplinary pathway and program development support
- Help design and implement interdisciplinary undergraduate pathways, concentrations, certificates, and other approved curricular structures.
- Manage/oversee operational and administrative logistics for cross-listing and co-teaching arrangements across departments.
- Identify and recommend potential opportunities for co-teaching partnerships, collaborative curricular proposals, and shared academic initiatives based on knowledge of faculty expertise and course content.
- Partner with department chairs and program directors in formalizing new curricular pathways and related governance processes.
- Planning tools, data, and assessment
- Maintain multi-year curricular planning tools, records, and reporting mechanisms that support curriculum review and long-term academic planning.
- Oversee assessment activities related to the divisional coordination pilot, including surveys, data collection, and evaluation of pilot outcomes.
- Prepare planning reports, data summaries and recommendations to support departmental and divisional decision-making.
- Faculty collaboration and cross-departmental Support
- Coordinate faculty meetings, working groups, and planning activities that advance divisional curriculum coordination goals.
- Oversee logistics for cross-departmental meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and follow-up.
- Serve as a liaison with the Registrar, GSAS, advising offices, and other academic partners on curriculum planning and implementation matters.
- Work with departments across A&S, CHAT, and the Dean of Academic Affairs to design, plan and coordinate multidisciplinary events that support faculty collaboration, curriculum development, and research and scholarship goals.
- Maintain awareness of individual department events across the division to cross-promotion events and avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Seek research funding opportunities and facilitate awareness and connections among faculty with aligned scholarly interests, in coordination with CHAT and the Dean of Research.

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of experience in academic administration, program coordination, or a faculty-facing role in a higher education setting
- Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Demonstrated understanding of academic program structures, curricular processes, and university operations
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities across units
- Ability to analyze and interpret enrollment, curricular, and scheduling data to support planning and decision-making
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators
- Experience with assessment, data tracking, and reporting in an academic context
- Ability to develop and maintain working knowledge of faculty expertise and course offerings across multiple departments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Experience supporting interdisciplinary curriculum development, cross-listing processes, or academic scheduling
- Familiarity with the Arts & Sciences academic landscape at Tufts University, or comparable experience working across multiple academic units at a research university
Pay Range
Minimum $61,200.00, Midpoint $76,500.00, Maximum $91,800.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
