Supplier Quality Engineer

Memphis, TN: Hybrid - must be onsite 3 times per week

Join Smith+Nephew as a Supplier Quality Engineer in Memphis, Tennessee, where you will play a critical role in ensuring supplier quality and compliance across our medical device operations. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with cross functional teams and suppliers worldwide, driving quality excellence, continuous improvement, and patient focused outcomes while supporting a global quality strategy.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the execution of the global supplier quality strategy and achievement of annual performance goals.
  • Manage supplier related nonconformances through SmartSolve and SAP Quality Notifications (QNs).
  • Apply knowledge of calibration, CMM equipment, and measurement systems (Gauging) to support supplier quality activities.
  • Lead and support Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), supplier investigations, field actions, and complaint activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, and supplier partners to resolve quality issues and implement improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards applicable to medical devices.
  • Support Supplier Change Notification (SCN) activities and supplier qualification processes.
  • Review, update, and maintain Supplier Quality Agreements (SQAs) and Supplier Quality Contracts (SQCs) where applicable.
  • Participate in external audits including MDSAP, FDA, and other regulatory or certification audits.
  • Utilize problem solving methodologies such as Lean A3, Six Sigma, and 8D to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support business initiatives, quality projects, reporting activities, and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
  • Apply knowledge of calibration, CMM equipment, and measurement systems to support supplier quality activities.
  • Develop project plans, track progress, and communicate updates to stakeholders as needed.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Associates degree in engineering and 5 years of work experience in supplier quality engineering.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485; ISO 19011 knowledge preferred.
  • Experience managing nonconformances, CAPAs, supplier quality investigations, and quality system processes.
  • Knowledge of calibration processes, CMM equipment, gaging systems, and quality measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Windchill, Power BI, Minitab, Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, and Visio.
  • Strong communication, project management, and relationship building skills with the ability to work independently and across global cross functional teams.
  • Experience using structured problem solving tools including Lean A3, Six Sigma, and 8D methodologies.
