About the Project

You will be instrumental in a large-scale portal modernization project, transforming a foundational healthcare platform. This ambitious undertaking involves aligning the portal with robust enterprise Design System standards and executing a phased, multi-state rollout.

Your Impact as a Junior Product Designer

As a Junior Product Designer, you will be at the forefront of hands-on design execution, directly influencing the user experience of a critical health portal. Your work will ensure consistency, efficiency, and a modern aesthetic across various state-specific variations. You will collaborate closely with product teams, leveraging your Figma expertise and embracing innovative AI-assisted tools to deliver high-volume, high-quality design assets. This role is perfect for a proactive problem-solver eager to navigate complex challenges and contribute to a project with tangible societal benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on Figma production work, including customizing, updating, and transferring UI components for diverse state-specific variations.
  • Apply and meticulously maintain established enterprise Design System rules, components, and variables across a multitude of screens and user flows.
  • Execute consistent, clean UI deliverables in Figma, ensuring precision and quality for high-volume state rollouts.
  • Navigate day-to-day ambiguity by proactively engaging with Product Managers and team members to clarify user stories, requirements, and edge cases.
  • Track design tasks, manage progress, and foster seamless collaboration across sprint cycles using Jira.
  • Leverage AI-assisted design and production tools, such as Claude Code, Figma Make, Figma Agent, and prompt-driven workflows, to significantly speed up repetitive tasks and component updates.

Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for a candidate who brings a blend of foundational design skills and a keen interest in modern design methodologies.

  • Figma Proficiency: Solid foundational skills in Figma, including expertise in component library usage, variants, auto layout, and responsive layouts.
  • Design Systems Acumen: Familiarity with applying design system guidelines and UI kits to create real-world interface designs.
  • Proactive Communication: Comfort working through missing details or ambiguous requirements by confidently asking questions and following up with Product partners.
  • Agile Tooling: Basic experience or familiarity tracking design tasks and progress in Jira.
  • Interest in AI Tools: A strong curiosity or hands-on experience using AI design assistants (e.g., Figma Make, Figma Agent, Claude Code) to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Healthcare Exposure: While not required, prior exposure to healthcare or accessibility standards is considered a plus.

Portfolio Requirement

Candidates must submit a portfolio that demonstrates work created within or adapted from a larger design system. This could include academic projects, internships, or past client work showcasing consistent system usage across multiple screens.
