What You'll Do
The Mobile Assessor provides thorough mental health assessments and specific care recommendations for patients when called upon by staff at local hospitals, urgent care centers, clinics, physicians' offices, crisis centers, treatment programs, or other locations. Following assessment and recommendation, the Mobile Assessor acts as a liaison between referring staff, admissions staff at the recommended program, the patient, and/or their family members. Essential Duties:
- Respond within 60 minutes to assessment inquiries during weekday business hours.
- Determine whether assessments will be conducted virtually or in person, and schedule or conduct assessment within 24 hours of initial inquiry.
- Conduct thorough assessment of patient symptomology, including taking patient history and reviewing clinical and medical screening questionnaires, treatment records, and other available information.
- Determine appropriate level of care and treatment location for patient, consulting as necessary with medical, psychiatry, or specialized services to make a determination.
- Record a provisional pre-admission diagnosis for insurance pre-certification and assist with the authorization process.
- Provide patient or family contact with placement recommendations, options for admit dates, and detailed admission information.
- Discuss or collaborate on the arrangement for means of transportation from current location to program with the patient/family and referring staff.
- Assess applicant safety profile, assign safety risk level, and triage risk with referring staff and program staff to ensure accommodations to manage risk are in place prior to admission.
- Ensure protection of patient health information in compliance with HIPPA rules and regulations.
- Complete assessment documentation thoroughly and professionally and submit all documentation in a timely manner.
- Stay updated on changes in services provided by Newport Healthcare programs and other local programs to ensure accuracy in location recommendations and admission information.
- Perform Referent Satisfaction Surveys with referring staff following assessments as directed.
- Identify potential partnerships with hospitals, clinics, physicians, crisis centers, etc., and reach out to establish key relationships in coordination with the local Newport clinical outreach professional.
What Makes You a Great Fit
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field from an accredited graduate school required.
- License preferred in Marriage Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, or Clinical Psychologist in a state which Newport Healthcare provides treatment services.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience is required.
- Experience with biopsychosocial assessments.
- Experience working at IOP, PHP, and RTC level of care settings.
- Expertise with DSM5 diagnostics, including complex symptom presentation and differential diagnosis, use of specifiers and severity indicators.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a reliable form of transportation.
Compensation for this role ranges from $33.47-$48.16 per hour depending on education and experience.
