Position Summary
The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care while providing exceptional customer service to patients and families. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with direct patient care, including obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing charts, conducting pre-visit planning, managing documentation, tracking laboratory results, and verifying medication lists.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as EKGs, rapid strep testing, urine dip testing, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients within established clinical guidelines and respond to routine patient inquiries.
  • Coordinate and track urgent referrals, authorizations, and follow-up care.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives by reviewing reports and addressing gaps in care.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications.
  • Monitor and document vaccine refrigeration temperatures in compliance with Department of Health regulations.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, environmental, OSHA, and Department of Health standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all federal, state, and local confidentiality regulations.
  • Protect patient demographic, clinical, and financial information in accordance with Brown Health Medical Group guidelines.
  • Deliver outstanding patient service and maintain positive patient relationships.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and workflow improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Experience

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of three years of Medical Assistant experience required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Works in healthcare settings including physician practices, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.
  • Regular interaction with patients and medical equipment.
  • Follows established safety protocols and uses appropriate protective equipment.
  • Frequently walks and stands throughout the workday.
  • May be exposed to electrical, biological, and other healthcare-related hazards.
  • Must be able to lift supplies and assist with patient positioning, including lifting up to 50 pounds when necessary.

Pay Range:

$18.13-$29.90
