New York University School of Law invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Law. We seek individuals with outstanding scholarly and professional careers who have demonstrated potential for academic and administrative leadership.
New York University School of Law is a preeminent global law school, distinguished by innovative teaching, cutting-edge research, and intellectual and professional development in a uniquely collegial environment. The Law School enrolls approximately 2,000 students annually, primarily in its J.D. program, alongside 9 domestic and international LL.M. programs and a range of dual-degree and executive education offerings. Its more than 100 full-time faculty members have a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and international visibility, and its over 50,000 alumni are leaders in public service, private practice, business, and legal scholarship worldwide. The Law School’s most recently completed multi-million-dollar capital campaign exceeded its original goal by 20%.
The Dean of the Law School provides the vision and leadership needed to foster innovation and excellence in research and graduate education, and oversees the planning and administration of the School’s academic and administrative programs. The Dean leads the Law School’s strategic initiatives, including its focus on innovation in legal education, its commitment to leadership and community engagement, and its dedication to student success.
Working in tandem with the Law School’s Board of Trustees, the Dean oversees the Law School’s $500 million endowment and the NYU School of Law Foundation, to provide steady support for the School’s current and future needs, and leads efforts to secure ongoing operational and programmatic support. The Dean also represents the School in major University decision-making bodies and in the broader external community.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $644,000.00 to USD $714,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
