Job Overview Santa Claus is the center of the Macy's Santaland experience and Macy's primary holiday ambassador to the public during the Holiday Season. Santa Claus is expected to cheerfully greet and welcome all Santaland guests. VIP Santa will be performing as part of a paid-ticketed, exclusive, VIP customer experience. VIP Santa visits will include 15-minutes of personalized Santa conversation, storytelling, gift giving, and both posed and candid photography. Guests of this experience will include celebrities, influencers, media and other VIPs. The highest quality Santa visit is expected for all guests- Santa must have a friendly and engaging personality, well-maintained appearance, ability to improvise while remaining in character, and ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality for all high profile visits. Performers must pass background checks and commit to work on evenings and weekends during the holiday season. What You Will Do * Portray the character of Santa in small group visits with adults and/or children; maintain a magical, festive and authentic Santa persona throughout all guest interactions * Cheerfully meet, greet and take posed and/or candid photos with guests of all ages; work closely with photography staff and support staff to facilitate high-quality photo sessions * Distribute pre-purchased gifts to guests * Read storybook aloud to guests * Conduct playful games with guests * Move to different locations within the Santa house for a variety of photos * Quickly memorize facts and names of guests * Maintain secular and appropriate conversations with guests * Always remain in character; memorize and perform pre-scripted dialogue used to interact with guest * Wear only costuming provided by Macy's * Manage appearance for optimal Santa authenticity; either growing an authentic beard and maintaining accordingly, or utilizing a professional wig and beard set provided by Macy's * Perform other duties as needed * Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality * May be selected to go on out-of-store special events * Follow job performance and character performance directive and feedback from Santaland Management team, Village Supervisor staff, Wig team, and Macy's Studios Creative and Operations staff Skills You Will Need Communication Skills: * Exceptional verbal communication skills required * High level of positivity required * Second language and/or ASL experience a plus Mathematical Skills: * Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Reasoning Ability: * Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment * Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand values Other Skills: * Effective communicator * Leadership * Customer Service * Punctuality * Cheerful and enthusiastic disposition * Ability to engage and entertain children Who You Are Education/Experience: * Santa experience preferred * Acting experience preferred * Ability and desire to work with children required * Customer service experience required Physical Demands: * Prolonged sitting required with people on your lap posing for photos * Continuous flash photographs taken throughout workday Work Hours: * Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays or sales events depending on business needs * Schedule must work in conjunction with other Santa team members What We Can Offer You Join a team where work is as rewarding as it is fun!
