About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a Lab Service Engineer to support advanced semiconductor research and development operations within Lam Research's Etch Operations organization. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, calibrating, and supporting critical laboratory equipment used in R&D activities, engineering development, and customer demonstrations.

What You'll Do:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on semiconductor processing and laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, vacuum, gas delivery, and electromechanical systems.
- Calibrate equipment and perform system upgrades to maintain operational readiness.
- Diagnose and repair equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support Process Development, Hardware Engineering, and Software Engineering teams with R&D activities and customer demonstrations.
- Install, configure, and maintain prototype equipment and engineering development systems.
- Develop procedures, work instructions, and documentation for prototype and development tools.
- Safely handle hazardous gases and chemicals while following all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Support engineering investigations and root-cause analysis efforts.
- Coordinate priorities across multiple projects and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
- May travel to customer locations to resolve complex system issues and support field operations.
- Provide training and technical guidance to Field Service Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Process Engineers, and other service personnel as needed.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR
- Associate's degree in a technical field, military technical training, or equivalent education with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of education and applicable industry experience.
- 2+ years of experience performing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or technical support in semiconductor, manufacturing, laboratory, or related technical environments.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, vacuum, or gas delivery systems.
- 2+ years of experience supporting process equipment, laboratory equipment, manufacturing equipment, or complex technical systems.
- 2+ years of experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing or semiconductor R&D equipment.
What Sets You Apart:
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and equipment calibration.
- Experience interpreting technical documentation, schematics, drawings, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of safe handling practices for hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment with shifting priorities.
- Hands-on experience with vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, RF systems, or semiconductor process tools.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across electrical, mechanical, vacuum, and gas subsystems.
- Experience supporting prototype equipment and engineering development projects.
- Experience working directly with engineering teams in research and development environments.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment-related issues.
- Experience creating technical documentation, procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Customer-facing support experience or field service engineering experience.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or training technical personnel.
Additional Information:
- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check.
- Overtime: May be required based on project schedules, customer commitments, and equipment support needs.
- Safety Requirements: Position requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including Air Purifying Respirators (APR) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) as needed.
