Research Pro 2 - Biomedical Engineering

Location: Minneapolis, East Bank campus

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday

• 15 hours per week

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

75% Laboratory benchwork including materials processing, analysis and tissue/cell assays
* Primary work will be to conduct benchtop wet chemical, biochemical, and biomedical engineering experiments involving polymeric materials, drugs, embolic agents, implantable devices, biological cells and tissues.

25% Data analysis and drafting and presenting progress reports
* Data analysis and drafting and presenting research progress reports.
* Help with maintaining research lab supplies and equipment
* Assist with preparation and organization of research posters and manuscripts and aid in research protocol writing and compliance.
* Supervise and direct undergraduate student workers, as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.

Required:
* Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, or related field of study with 2 years of related work experience OR equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
* Experience with polymer degradation, enzymatic digestion, cell and tissue processing, analysis of embolic agents, chemical analysis including solvent extraction, filtration, rotaevaporation, UV-vis spectroscopy, quantification of chemical compounds and immunoactive drugs; mechanical and rheological analysis of materials; statistical analysis;

Preferred:
* Strong technical writing and speaking skills; familiarity with image analysis software and tools; proficient in data processing and using graphing tools.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is an academic unit of the College of Science and Engineering that administers biomedical engineering degree programs at all levels (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral).

While research possibilities among the graduate faculty span the full spectrum of biomedical engineering, the Department has established interests in cardiovascular, neural, and cancer engineering. We seek to focus growth and excellence in these research areas as we grow.

Pay Range: $28.00 Hourly; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
